Today while Driving to my moms house I notided two police cars parked right next to eachother with both cars facing opposite directions. Generally I see this when two officers are pulled off to the side of the road "BS"ing. Normaly this does not bother me (even though it is some what upsetting to see that that's where my tax dollars are going). However when a/multiple Officers feel that their personal conversation is more inportant than a civilians time, it really pisses me and many other people off. You see, the two officers that were parked were clearly blocking the way to the appartment complex. I saw no flashing lights nor was the road blocked off from any other side. This tells me that the two officers were just sitting there, in the way, talking. When i drove up and waited for one of the officers to be on his way and get back to work he simply looked at me like was stupid and waived me off to go around the complex! this made a 5 second drive take about ten minutes. "Maybe they were there for a reason" I think to my self. Well when I go back 5 mins later both cars are gone which further leads me to belive that there was no real reason for either officer to sit there idely and chit-chat to his fellow officer. I have no beef with any police Deparpartment. I just have a problem with police acting like their badge is a VIP access  card to do what ever they want. Using it to speed, loiter, or talk down on others. When it comes down to it your job is to go out and keep me safe. NOT sit in the middle of a Apt complex driveway obstructing the path of the residents then not moving when some one needs to get by. Its shit like that that gives police a bad name. I understand your job is dangerous, but you did or you should have realized that your self before signing up, so get out there and do it right. Again im not trying to rag on the Police or anything. I highly respect Police officers and what they do, i just dont appreciate when the people who are PAID to make my life more comfortable actually make it inconvienient for no real reason other then "i dont feel like moving out of the way" or "i dont want to walk over there so im just gonna yell from across the street."  Just because you Uphold the law does not make you "The Law." I may have more to say on this later but for now iim done venting.

Mon, 02 Aug 2010 22:37:00 -0700 What is Parkour? http://brianunger.posterous.com/what-is-parkour http://brianunger.posterous.com/what-is-parkour

As a traceur I constantly hear people ask: "What is Parkour?" It's not uncommon that one of their friends will try and beat me to the punch and explain. Often they use terms such as: Sport, Martial Art, or street gymnastics. Even experienced parkour practitioners will use the term Free Runner in a desperate attempt to get the questioner to understand without having to go into a in depth lecture on what parkour is. So what exactly is parkour?

Is it a sport? I have heard people call it a sport, but lets look a little closer. When some asks what is parkour I generally have to go into a in depth explanation about how its the ability to move through the environment blah blah you all know how it goes. When asked what is Base Ball I don't say: "Its the ability to load three basses and hit a home run to score a bunch of points." I say its a sport. A sport with rules and regulations. Rules and regulations just like every other sport. Now look at this... rules and regulations? The whole point of parkour is to have no regulations. To be able to over come every obstacle. We don't like to be have barriers that's why we learn to get over them. So no I don't thing Parkour by definition fits the role of a sport.

Martial art? This is close at best. Martial arts require discipline and a healthy life style much like parkour. Many people enter both to be a savage in the end and both learn that its not a tool to look or be bad ass with. But parkour is not violent by any nature. It has no self defense moves. It simply depends on the fact that you can move through your environment better than the other guy. It also has no ranking system as one of our principles is that there is no peak to self improvement. So while parkour does share many traits with Martial Arts I wouldn't say it is one.

How about Street Gymnastics? NO! Moving on...

What is the difference between Free running and Parkour? Parkour: The ability to move through ones environment in the fastest and most efficient manner possible using only the human body. Free Running: some would say a westernized version of parkour taking the moves used in parkour and mixing them with acrobatics and some gymnastics. performed when ever for what ever reason.

Well I know I am an amateur writer but I think I can sum it all up when I say that in my opinion (I know there are people that will disagree with a lot of this) parkour isn't anything but... Parkour, Just like sky diving is just sky diving and rock climbing is just rock climbing. I hope that makes sense and i don't get to much criticism for this!

Thu, 29 Jul 2010 00:09:00 -0700 Im just not sure... http://brianunger.posterous.com/im-just-not-sure http://brianunger.posterous.com/im-just-not-sure

Why is it that when a fork in the road comes along in my life i always seem to take the path that is clearly labeled "STOP" "DO NOT ENTER" "DANGER AHEAD"? It seems like my entire life has been based off of these bad decisions. Am i doomed to continue this trend or will i realize that all i am doing is hurting my self more and more. What if i do come to this conclusion only to continue my already questionable actions? I most assuredly would not be the first to do so. I guess all i can do at this point is consider this, wait and see what happens.
